The winter hasn’t been friendly this year to certain areas of the US, with flash floods hitting Southern California and blizzards tormenting the East Coast. Vimeo user decided to document a blizzard by setting up a Canon DSLR with a remote timer, snapping a photograph every five minutes. I purchased a Canon T4i hoping it would outperform my Canon 60D in video mode.I was expecting the Digic 5 Processor to give low light advantages for filming, but it doesn't.
T4i Advantages:
You can record video for 30 minutes straight (nice not being stuck to 12 minutes)
The HDMI out transmits a higher resolution signal than the 60D.
It has a stereo internal mic rather than mono.
It is better for still photography with more advanced features.

i like the build and feel of the 60d feels perfect for me with a 17-85 lens but ive heard a few negative comments about the camera ! but then it may be the user and not the camera . so whats other owners thoughts of the 60d is the 60d a better camera then the 40/50d for image quality

Unfortunately it looks like I've got a 7D that has the much-talked about Autofocus problem. I came back from the cottage last week with about 5 good images out of 600, all of the others were just blurry enough at 50% to make the image unusable, but still look fine when fit to the LCD. There was little consistency between back and front focusing, or the amount of error: AF is all over the place.

After I purchased my gentLED I had been researching on a lightweight portable tripod to purchase (ended up getting a Velbon Ultra Luxi M) that would fit in my work bag without making it obvious I was carrying a lot of kit. My aim was to make a time lapsed video in my office once I had these two items.
I took this today in the office around 3pm to 6pm with the remote trigger firing every 30-40 seconds. F4, 1/15 @ ISO 200.
Put together in Adobe After Effects.

Canon has posted an advisory concerning its new EF40mm f/2.8 STM “pancake” lens. The problem is that the autofocusing function of the lens may not operate correctly if pressure is applied to the lens barrel while the lens is mounted to the camera (pressure can be applied even while attaching the lens cap or while carrying the camera with the lens attached in a bag).
A workaround is to simply detach and reattach the lens, or remove and reinsert the camera battery to restore the operations. A firmware ...

These lenses seem to be scarce so samples are hard to find. I've heard nothing but good things about the 100mm and I've heard that the 40mm is either really good or really over-rated. I'm not concerned about brutal sharpness; however, I care about good bokeh. I find that most big lens manufacturers make sharp-enough normal and telephotos, but bokeh seems to be all over the place.Anyone experience either of these lenses?
