Following on from my last post about focal length being a focal length no matter what camera it is on and it’s the equivalent field of view that matters I have put together a short video showing the same shot on two different cameras. The AF-101 and the Sony F3 at 2 different focal lengths.

Over the past couple of weeks I directed and edited a 60s promo for 'THIRD BASE' - a new sci fi web drama about a group of teens marooned on Mars.
It was shot on the F3 with a handful of stills lenses:
Canon EF 24mm f1.4
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens
Plus I believe a Tokina 11-16mm
Canon EF 70 - 210mm
DOP was Chris McHardy. Got quite a few flares in vision, with anamorphic ones added in post.

Wow! You're right, I'm sure Sony doesn't care. If I had an F3 I'd pay the extra money for S-log. Good for Sony. I just thought charging $3600 for something that's already in the camera was kinda funny.

Good news from the camcorder front. Sony today released firmware version 1.1 which fixes a number of F3 niggles. First off you can now output HDMI and SDI simultaneously which is great news. Now you can plug in your Zacuto EVF for monitoring and send out a nice HD-SDI signal to a KiPro mini or something similar. Something that was much needed from the camera.

YPbPr4:2:2 1920×1080 (23.98/ 25/ 29.97PsF) 10-bit outputs are now supported (Dual Link Terminal-A only)

hi, can someone explain what "s-log" is exactly?
the footage is like night and day with those examples. ive been watching alexa footage for last few days on a monitor, and its looked great with its super flat, smooth tones, but that s-log footage looks very, very good .

Yes I am still in Vegas. NAB did end about 5 days ago but I stayed on to chill out after my epic tour with Canonfilmmakerslive.com and the exhausting NAB. I still have a blog to put up of my highlights but before I do that this is pretty special.

I shot with the Sony F3 back at Christmas for fun with my sister. As a former EX1 owner and still a current EX3 user and also lover of large chips of the DSLR it was a lovely experience. Low light was simply stunning. So clean at 3200 ISO. ...

NAB 4: The Sony F3 on steroids with S-Log. 14 stops of latitude. Uncompressed 444!!!

This Video runs a little over 6 mins, but if you’re an F3 fan, want to learn a little more, it’s worth 6 minutes of your time. I spent a good deal of time with the F100 and F3 at the show. I left drooling for both.
