Hi all, I just purchased a D5100 camera and had some concerns about keeping it secure. In terms of safely keeping a DSLR camera, does anyone have any thoughts about strategies to avoid being robbed or having the camera stolen? I keep avoiding taking the camera to areas with a fear that my camera will be taken. Would anyone advise buying a P&S camera for non secure locations?

Originally bought one of these for my laptop (still do when appropos) but now also use it with my camera bag and my road-bike when I want to semi-secure them. By semi-secure, I mean that I am maybe sitting in a patio or something, can see my by bike secured to a post, or my camera bag with the Defcon looped through my belt-loop and through the zipper tabs on the bag, etc. I also use small luggage ... The promoters have a notice up on the website saying cameras are OK but professional cameras are banned... How do they distinguish between them? My gf1 is taped up in gaffa tape and in one of those ebay fake leather camera case things... does that seem professional? I hope not!
